- Hipparchus, an ancient Greek Mathematician, astronomer and geographer, is known as the father of trigonometry.
- In the second century BC, he created the first trigonometric table and solved problems in spherical trigonometry.
- Hipparchus was the first to tabulate the corresponding values of arc and chord for a series of angles.
